Cheerleading is a team sport that maximizes each individual athlete’s potential. The Somers Youth Cheer program encourages working collaboratively to build spirit, pride, and sportsmanship throughout our town.

Games & Competitions
All cheerleaders must fulfill their game commitment before competing. The Somers Youth program cheers at home football games and competes throughout the fall season. It is understood that fall cheerleaders commit to the team from August -December for both games and competition.
Teams & Practices:
K-2: Practice is once a week after school for 1 hour. Athletes will learn the basics of cheerleading. Team will cheer at one or two flag football games and may “exhibit” at other community events.
3-5: Practice is twice each week after school for approximately 1 and half hour each time. Team will cheer at home football games and compete approximately 2-3 times.
6-8: Practice is three times each week for approximately 2 hours each time. Team will cheer at home football games and compete approximately 3-4 times.
